THE HOT TIP

FE FI FAUX HIBACHI

In Japan, a hibachi is usually the focal point of any interior where family and friends gather. Hibachis are used to provide heat, warm saki and boil water for tea. Although you cannot light a fire in this hibachi's receptacle, you can add a western touch to an eastern idea by using the receptable for showing off your personal treasures. Add an acrylic top to it, and it can be used as a table.
    Materials Needed:
Three styrofoam pieces that resemble a small table
    Silicone sealant household glue
    Red spray paint
    Gold tissue paper
    White glue
Clear acrylic cut to tabletop size

    Here's how:
Select a styrofoam piece for the top with a receptacle in it or cut one out.
Spray all your styrofoam pieces the color of your choice.
Glue your top piece to your legs (styrofoam) with silicone glue.
    Crumple tissue paper. Flatten out.
Add a bit of water to white glue and brush on stryrofoam.
Adhere crumpled, flattened tissue paper to bottom and sides of receptacle.
    Place acryclic piece on top.
